For Leah's final project, she takes the opportunity to be both ambitious and realistic in her outcome as an entirely student-led brief. Stemming from her personal experience living with a relative with advanced-stage dementia, this project is personal, passionate, and deeply informed.
This project understands and recognises the problems within the provision of funding from statutory sources such as the NHS and social services. The project highlights the lack of support that informal carers receive, shining a light on the experience of being a carer without professional support and the physical and mental strains of providing care.
Leah’s personal experience allows her to create a coherent and impactful approach to tackling this problem. Using typographic design, Leah calls attention to the importance of the role of the carer and the part they play in “keeping the system running”. Leah also uses campaigning and disruptive design to increase public awareness and directly target the Welsh Cabinet Secretary of Finance, encouraging engagement from local counsellors, MPs, and the government to sustain the informal carer role through better funding.

Mae'r prosiect yn tynnu sylw at y diffyg cefnogaeth y mae gofalwyr anffurfiol yn ei dderbyn, gan dynnu sylw at y profiad o fod yn ofalwr heb gefnogaeth broffesiynol, a'r straen corfforol a meddyliol sy'n deillio o ddarparu gofal.
Mae profiad personol Leah yn ei galluogi i greu ymagwedd gyson ac effeithiol i fynd i'r afael â'r broblem hon. Gan ddefnyddio dyluniad teipograffig, mae Leah yn tynnu sylw at bwysigrwydd rôl y gofalwr, a'r rhan maen nhw'n ei chwarae wrth "gadw'r system i redeg". Mae Leah hefyd yn defnyddio dyluniad ymgyrchu ac aflonyddgar i gynyddu ymwybyddiaeth y cyhoedd, tra hefyd yn targedu'r Ysgrifennydd Cyllid yn y Cabinet Cymreig yn uniongyrchol, gan annog ymgysylltiad gan gynghorwyr lleol, ASau, a'r llywodraeth i gynnal rôl y gofalwr anffurfiol trwy well ariannu.
